The Truth About Irradiation

1) What is the irradiation of food?
The food irradiation process uses three types of ionizing radiation sources:Cobalt- 60, electron beam generators, and x-ray accelerators to eliminate the possibility of germs in food.
2) What are 5 commonly irradiated foods?
Pasteurized milk, pressured cooking with canned foods, raw meat and poultry, fruit, and vegetables
3) Is this food safe to eat?
Yes, irradiated food can only be irradiated when the FDA approves that the food can be irradiated. It will not harm the food if it is applied properly, It also cannot be used on all foods.
