Created by: Jeanne Pinos and Mark Leyble

Irradiation of food is the killing in bacteria or spoilage in food that could result in food poisoning, for example salmonella.
For food to be irradiated it needs a source of radiant energy, and a way to confine that energy.

Irradiated foods:
  1. Fruits-reduces rehydration time
  2. Meats- destroys pathogenic fish organisms
  3. Vegetables-controls insect vegetables
  4. Spices-reduces rehydration time
  5. Tea-destroys any insects

Irradiated foods safe and nutritious and causes no harm to consumers.
